And here we go again, another attempt to regain the coveted spot in Social Networking. After a lot of hush hush Google launches its social media tool with best of Facebook + exciting new features. It has already exceeded the expectations of not only googlers but also their servers. The response has been so overwhelming that invitation feature has been disabled as well as old invitations revoked temporarily. Latest message said "Already invited? We've temporarily exceeded our capacity. Please try again soon."
Google + is seen as a major threat to Facebook. The timing for its launch couldn't have been better amid the recent reports of saturation of Facebook users across most of Europe & Americas. Most talked about feature in Google+:
- +Circles, where we can create separate clusters of all connected to us to share updates. Its no longer needed to share everything with everyone on the web or everyone connected to us, certainly we would not like to share the same updates with our friends, family & colleagues.
- +Hangout, the all new video chat with an upper cap of 10 users in a conference is a befitting reply to skype conference (recently acquired by Microsoft).
- +Spark, a suggestion feature similar to youtube, where we can see articles, video which might interest us based on cognitive intelligence.
The fire has prompted Facebook founder, Mark Zuckerberg, to announce exciting new updates to facebook users (Though the features are yet undisclosed). As per the latest updates, even Mark Zuckerberg has opened Google+ account. As they say, its always advisable to keep an eye on competitors.
The speculations are rife, will Google+ dethrone Facebook, as MySpace was dethroned by Facebook?. We will need to wait and watch!
